SM audio has established itself as a trusted and renowned supplier & installer of car audio systems in the Western Cape.

About SM audio

SM Audio started out in 1996 from humble beginnings, out of a car port in Pelican Park by Sujeet Morar, later came to be known as "Mamoo" to the local youngsters in the area, a name that has become synonymous at SM audio. Having basic carpentry skills, Sujeet decided to try his hand at building sub-woofer boxes, the very first one for his opposite neighbour with 2 x 8" subs with a black vinyl covering and gold beading, did those 8" boom.

Sujeet further expanded his knowledge of box specifications, car audio and sound engineering, trying his hand at everything, finally becoming an expert in the industry, leading to building the world's loudest taxi, "Design 2 Devastate" (pictured on the right), pumping a phenomenal 159.9 dB at an IASCA sound off competition in Durban, giving birth to the SM audio slogan "home of Cape Town's loudest taxis" a slogan that has been and still is upheld by SM audio.

Today you will find SM Audio in Rosmead Avenue, Wynberg, after taking their success to a whole new level of not only supplying  & installing high end quality car audio items, but cementing it's foundation by becoming sole and authorised agents of a few brands, local and international.

Further to their success, SM audio has developed it's very own sound off competition format, SPL Bandits, a unique format of sound off that involves two dB meters a vehicle at the same time - one meter in the standard SPL position (4" from left post & 1" from the dashboard on the windscreen) - the other meter can be placed anywhere the competitor wants it to be placed - boot, box, port, you choose. The first meter classes you and determines your SPL run and the second determines your BANDIT run. This format is suitable for both individual and team entries.

SPL Bandits has given rise to Bragging Rights, a sound off competition held annually where competitors challenge for exactly what the competition is, "Bragging Rights". Bragging Rights is growing annually, with huge interest country wide, keep a look out for the 2020 competition, check out the rules in the meantime.
